How do I convert a JPG to a PES file?

Upload your JPG at embroider.app/generate and the app converts it into a PES file that Brother and Babylock machines read directly. You see the patch design and the exact stitch path in your browser before paying, so you know what will sew out. The preview is free; downloading the PES file costs $4.99 (or $19 for ten downloads).

Try it — upload an image

Step by step

  1. 01Open embroider.app/generate in any browser — nothing to install.
  2. 02Upload your JPG (PNG works too). Simple, high-contrast images sew best.
  3. 03Wait ~15 seconds for the patch design and the exact stitch path preview.
  4. 04Check stitch count, size in mm, and thread colors in the machine metadata panel.
  5. 05Choose PES as your format and download. You also get a high-resolution preview image.

Good to know

PES is the Brother/Babylock format

PES stores stitches plus thread color information for Brother-family machines. If your machine is a Tajima or other commercial head, pick DST instead — embroider.app exports both.

Watch the stitch count

Above roughly 35,000 stitches on a 76mm patch, home machines get slow and the fabric can distort. Use the 'regenerate with fewer colors' control to bring density down without spending another generation.

What you actually get

One download gives you the DST file, the PES file, and a high-resolution PNG of your patch preview. No account is required — credits are tied to your browser session.

Frequently asked

Can Brother machines read a PES file made online?+

Yes. embroider.app writes standard PES with stitch and thread color data, so Brother and Babylock machines read it straight from a USB stick.

Is converting a JPG to PES free?+

Generating and previewing the design is free. Downloading the file bundle costs $4.99 for one download, or $19 for ten. No account is needed.

What size will the patch be?+

Designs default to about 76mm and the app shows the exact size in millimetres before you buy, so you can confirm it fits your hoop.

Do I get a DST file too?+

Yes. One download includes both the DST and the PES file plus a high-resolution PNG of the patch preview.

What kind of JPG works best?+

High-contrast artwork with a small number of clear colors. Busy backgrounds, small faces and heavy gradients are the usual failure cases.

Preview is free. Downloads are $4.99 for one, or $19 for ten. No account required.
